The company announced that Reigns, whose real name is Joseph Anoa’i, would be suspended for 30 days effective immediately for his first violation of the WWE’s talent wellness policy. It comes just two days after Reigns lost his title in a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match to Seth Rollins.
Later, Dean Ambrose cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to challenge Rollins and won, earning the title himself.
Reigns issued a statement on Twitter regarding his suspension: I apologize to my family, friends and fans for my mistake in violating WWE’s wellness policy. No excuses. I own it.
